The Guide

Welcoming Shabbat Together

The Sabbath ceremony is an amazing blessing for families to get together and share in the Word of Yahweh. There are many ways families do the Sabbath, and I created this one by looking at what is traditional in the Jewish culture and what is in the Word. When Yahweh gave the command to do the Sabbath, He just said rest. I have tried to just rest, but our family tends to gravitate toward doing what we want and not resting in Yahweh. So, having a ceremony helps our family to change our focus from us to Yahweh. We have small and big kids and are a little rowdy, so we may do it less traditionally than some families. Still, we are making our own traditions to honor Yahweh for our family, and I hope you do, too.

The Book

Shabbat Together

This book is a great story to read with your children to help them understand the context of the Sabbath.
It has been such a fun blessing to share the experience of the Sabbath in our home every week, as many people have done for thousands of years. You may learn new words while reading, but you probably already know and love their meanings. Sabbath or Shabbat may be a new word for you. You may hear the Sabbath called Shabbat, which has the same meaning and is interchangeable. They mean “rest”. A Sabbath greeting we say to each other is “Shabbat Shalom,” meaning Peaceful Rest. This is a children's book for both them and you.

Meet The Author

Amy Bauer

I am Amy Bauer. I am a follower of Yahweh, wife, mother, and friend. I felt the pull on my heart to worship Yahweh the way that he asks to be worshiped in the Scriptures and the way Yeshua did when he was on the earth. For 8 years my family and I have been celebrating the feasts of the Bible and now I am very blessed to share with you how and why we worship with the Sabbath. Thank you for being on this journey with us.
